Steel Building Components to Consider
You may know you want a metal building... but do you know all that entails?
Aside from the large structure, consider the steel building components that comprise the unit you have in mind. These are additional items, such as skylights, doors, windows, vents, and other accessories, that are not considered part of the building system itself.
They can set you back in the wallet if you aren't familiar with what you need.
Most of these components must be purchased separately from the metal building system. A supplier might include some components as part of a package, but be careful and ask questions.
We suggest purchasing components separately so that you know how much each one costs and you can factor this into the overall metal building price. Here's a quick look at what a steel building package does typically come replete with:
- The complete framing system made up of the end and interior frames, columns, rafters, and flange bracing.
- Horizontal load bracing, purlins, girts, eave members, end wall columns, base angles, and any other structural framing that is necessary to support the roof and wall coverings of the general steel building.
- Exterior metal roof and wall covering of the steel building system including trim, fasteners, sealants and closures.
- A complete hardware package that includes all nuts and bolts for the steel to steel connections of the structural framing of the residential or commercial steel building.
